The Nabucco-West project was designed as a gas pipeline from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Austria, the project being developed by a consortium of six companies. How does this involve Romania? First, Romania had to be one of the transit countries, with about 475 kilometers of the pipeline planned to cross through it. Second, Romanian state-owned Transgaz Medias was part of the Nabucco consortium along with OMV (Austria), BEH (Bulgaria), MOL (Hungary), BOTAS (Turkey) and GDF Suez (France).
