Chinese investments in Romania: still waiting for the miracle
Chinese companies have expressed their interest in big infrastructure projects in Romania this year, such as the construction of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, the Tarnita-Lapustesti hydroelectric power station and the Comarnic-Brasov motorway, but no plans have actually been carried out. More than a year has passed since the ex-President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao announced, in April 2012, the creation of a government credit line of USD 10 billion to be used to finance Chinese investments in Central Eastern Europe (CEE). Since then there have been many promises of Chinese investments in Romania, but few have actually been carried out.
