Ministry of Agriculture allocates 20 million Euro to rural telecom networks

Small and medium enterprises operating in the field of communications have until April 11 to submit funding applications for the development of broadband infrastructure in rural areas not covered by telecom operator networks

"On February 17, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the submission session for the funding applications related to sub-measure 322 e) on ‘Investments regarding broadband infrastructure in rural areas,'" said officials from the institution, quoted by Mediafax. "This sub-measure supports investments aimed at creating or upgrading access to a communications network (last miles). It also supports investments aimed at creating the distribution network (backhaul) where it is not present, to ensure the functionality of the local loop (last mile)."
The allocated budget is 20.38 million Euro, covered by EU funds. The period for submitting projects will end on April 11, while the contracting will be completed by June 30. "The support will cover no more than 90 percent of the total eligible expenditure and the amount of public support granted to projects may not exceed the ceiling of 200,000 Euro / beneficiary," said officials. Eligible beneficiaries are SMEs that work or will work in the communications field.
