Labour Minister Rovana Plumb elected chair of Social Democratic Party's National Council

The politician Plumb was the only candidate for the chairmanship of the National Council.
Recently, in her new position, Rovana Plumb said that the minimum wage in Romania could reach a level comparable to other European Union countries by 2018, following several raises, with the first due on July 1. "According to the European Social Charter, the minimum wage should be 50 per cent of the average wage in each member state. In our country, there will be several successive raises of the minimum wage; the first one is scheduled on July 1, when it will increase from the current 975 RON to 1,050 RON," Plumb declared.
