According to the cited source, Ciamba showed that a highly important role in reaching the energy security objectives is represented by the use of indigenous resources and technologies generating reduced carbon emissions.

"At the same time, he underscored the fact that an important element of this sector′s development and of the economic cooperation in the area is the creation and consolidation of an attractive investment environment, mainly at the level of the European Energy Community, through the proper use of all funding mechanisms and instruments available on a national, European and international level," the release points out.

According to MAE, the main debate topics in the Summit aimed at the reconstruction of the Silk Road, as an economic bridge between the two continents, as well as financial and economic aspects in achieving this goal, but also the role of telecommunications, IT, energy, transports and logistics in strengthening the economic cooperation between Europe and Asia, equality and discrimination combat.

Ciamba explained that, from Romania′s stand, the three sectors that can bring a major contribution to the development of the architecture of the new Silk Road are transports, energy and IT.
"In what regards the transports sector, Secretary of State George Ciamba showed that an essential role in the development of the economic cooperation framework is the creation of the necessary interconnections, with an important role being played by the projects of development intermodal transport networks, the interconnection of the trans-European networks with the international ones and the development of the transport means supporting the protection of the environment, through the contribution brought to the reduction of carbon emissions with greenhouse effects," the cited source adds.

In the energy area, the Secretary of State underscored there are a great number of opportunities for strengthening the economic relations between the two continents, both in the gas area-by building the Southern Gas Corridor or by creating the gas transport system in the Caspian region, as well as in the electricity area, "where Romania is an important producer and, with the necessary infrastructure, it has the potential to become an important exporter to the foreign partners."
Referring to the information technology, as a factor facilitating the cooperation and development of commercial relations, Ciamba voiced Romania′s interest in the future European strategy in the area.
