US-based Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation and a global player in the production of technologies for the automotive sector, announced in mid-April the investment in a second plant in Ploiesti, Prahova county. 2015-04-17 10:50:12
The factory will provide European vehicle manufacturers with assemblies and components for windshield wipers and will count 300 employees by 2016. "The investment reflects the growing strength of the relationship between our two countries and the attractiveness of Romania to US investment," said Dean Thompson, Charge d′Affaires of the US Embassy in Romania, during the press conference organized by the American company.
"Ploiesti has become one of the most attractive regions in Romania for foreign investments. The presence, here, of other US investors such as Timken, Lufkin, Toro and others demonstrates that creating an investment friendly environment produces great results."
Federal-Mogul new plant will be ready by this autumn and will produce 28 million windshield wipers per year. The value of the investment in the new auto wipers factory has not been made public. Federal-Mogul Motorparts operates also a brake pads manufacturing plant in which the company has invested 58 million USD so far. Bogdan Dimitriu, plant manager of Federal-Mogul Motorparts, confessed that the brake pads plant will see a nine-million USD investment this year to sustain the fourth production line.
