Romania's President Klaus Iohannis said that the US Vice-President, Joe Biden, voiced his satisfaction over Romania's progress with its fight against corruption 2015-10-18 18:35:29 - From the Print Edition
"We discussed the situation in Romania. Vice-President Biden voiced satisfaction over the state of play in Romania′s fight against corruption and trust in the ongoing process", Iohannis said at the Romanian Embassy in the US, during a visit at the end of September.
He added that their conversation also focused on the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the US, with the two officials agreeing on more work being done in the economic realm. "First of all, we discussed the Strategic Partnership. Together, we assessed this partnership, which is excellent and very strong. The political and military sides of it are excellent and we agreed to try and work on the economic side. Such a partnership should have a very substantial economic component," said Iohannis. The Romanian president also invited the US high-ranking official to attend a mini-summit of NATO scheduled for November in Bucharest.
