EC approves state aid scheme to compensate damage caused by drought this year
The European Commission (EC) has approved in mid-November the state aid scheme for the compensation of the damage caused by severe drought during April-September 2015, according to a press release of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) 2015-12-06 13:43:48 - From the Print Edition
"The European Commission (EC) approved on 17 November 2015 the state-aid scheme SA. 43393 (2015/N) - regarding the establishment of a state aid scheme to compensate the damage caused by the meteorological phenomenon severe drought manifested during April-September 2015," read the release. "The decision confirms that the Emergency Ordinance no. 45/2015 complies with EU guidelines on state aid in the agriculture and forestry sectors and in rural areas for 2014-2020 period." According to the same source, the Emergency Ordinance no. 45/2015 applies until 31 December 2015.
Within the scheme, the agricultural producers registered at the Agriculture Payments and Intervention Agency (APIA) are eligible for a single payment request for 2015, which have been declared by APIA, following the administrative review, eligible for the single area payment scheme for the year 2015, according to Agerpres. In addition, according to the Bucharest authorities, quoted by the newswire, about 173,500 agricultural producers will benefit from compensations, of which 165,100 are individuals and 8,400 legal entities. The total amount of compensation is up to 640 million RON (around 143.8 million Euro).
