The National Union for the Progress of Romania (Romanian: Uniunea Nationala pentru Progresul Romaniei, UNPR) supports the organization of mayoral election in one round, stating "the need of stability" and the fact that the law has been adopted in this structure by the Romanian Parliament. The law went all the way from debate to being voted in Parliament and promulgated by the Romanian President," according to a press release of the party.
The voting for electing the local mayors in Romania is scheduled on June 5th this year, while the start of election campaigns is set for May 6, according to a GO draft submitted for debate by the Permanent Electoral Authority.
