Ana Hotels to see more than 20 per cent growth in Q1

Ana Hotels, one of the largest Romanian hospitality companies which posted last year 127.5 million RON (28.6 million Euro) in revenues, has seen a 21 per cent turnover growth in Q1 compared to the same period of last year, according to newly appointed general manager Christine Schillings

2016-06-15 21:55:31 - From the Print Edition

This comes in the context in which the RevPAR (revenue per available room) has increased by 15 per cent and the average occupancy rate level has recorded a rise of eight per cent in the same period of time. Moreover, by the end of 2016, Ana Hotels plans to reach a turnover of 139.5 million RON (31.3 million Euro), representing an almost ten per cent increase.
"We have a strong target for this year, where we plan to continue our growth and register an eight to nine per cent increase by the end of the year in terms of revenues," Schillings tells The Diplomat – Bucharest. However, we have already seen a growth of more than 20 per cent in the overall revenue in Q1 compared to last year's Q1. The RevPAR went up by 15 per cent, coming with an eight per cent increase into the level of occupancy. It is a very strong quarter and all indicators show us a very strong continuity for the rest of the year. We are definitely on a positive trend."
Christine Schillings has a 30-year experience in the hospitality business, having previously worked for Hilton Worldwide group. Hilton also manages Ana Hotels' Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest, which was opened in 1997. Schillings was part of the management team that opened the unit back then. Comparing Romania now and then, the GM relates that the Romanian tourism landscape has seen a positive development over the years, but there are still a lot of things to do.
"In the past 20 years, I have seen a constant improvement of the service and the quality of the people in Romania," she says. "A lot of things have changed between 1996/1997, when I came for the first time to Romania, and now. A lot of investments have been done, but there is still a lot of things to do. I think Romania has a very strong potential in tourism. There are wonderful locations that are not yet put on both the international and domestic maps." Established in 1996, Ana Hotels currently owns seven hotels in the upscale and luxury segment located in Bucharest, Poiana Brasov and Eforie Nord. The company has a total capacity of 975 accommodation rooms and in 2015 counted 710 employees.
