The event took place in mid-May within the fifth edition of the Romanian Energy Awards 2016 organized by The Diplomat – Bucharest at the Hilton Hotel in Bucharest. "A very important segment of waste generators are, without doubt, the retail networks," said Roxana Sunica, the marketing manager of Recolamp. "In 2015, we collected 24,462 kg of light sources from 198 stores across the country. The partner who handed us the largest quantity of waste, namely 6,800 kg, was Kaufland Romania. We congratulate and thank them for the constant care they have for not abandoning waste and managing them correctly, with respect to the citizens and the environment," she added. In 2015, Recolamp collected and recycled 658 tonnes of waste from sources and lighting equipment on behalf of the 185 manufacturers the association represents. The amount of the waste managed accounted for 43 per cent of what they have put on the market, thus meeting the European target. Any public or private institution in Romania may request customized containers. The collaboration with Recolamp is free, the organization providing the takeover through authorized waste collectors. The minimum quantity is 20 kg or 100 pieces for light bulbs and/or fluorescent tubes, as well as at least 50 kg of lighting equipment waste.
