Transgaz and Transelectrica to sign agreements with specialized companies in Vietnam

PM Ciolos met at Hanoi with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and with Tran Quang Dại, President R. S. Vietnam and Nguyen Phu Trọng, the Secretary General. "The visit to Hanoi marked the resumption of contacts at the level of prime minister between the two countries after 21 years, and the relaunch of economic and sectoral cooperation with R.S. Vietnam - a traditional partner of Romania in Asia," according to a press release issued by The Diplomat – Bucharest.
During the official meeting, Romanian and Vietnamese prime ministers identified new opportunities for economic cooperation in areas such as energy, industry, agriculture, banking, infrastructure works, IT, science and technology, sustainable development and tourism. Special attention was paid to the energy sector, the context in which the Romanian Transgaz and Transelectrica companies have signed Memoranda of Understanding with their counterparts. Based on the Memorandum, valid for the period 2016-1019 with the possibility of extension, "the two sides expressed satisfaction with the conclusion of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam and showed that its entry into force will provide an economic framework expanded collaboration with beneficial effects for boosting trade and investment."
On the sidelines of the visit, the Romanian-Vietnamese business forum took place, organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries and on this occasion supported an intervention. Ciolos highlighted the substantial opportunities for cooperation and mutual investment. However, both the Romanian and Vietnamese Presidents of the Chambers of Commerce have signed a cooperation protocol.
