Airbus Helicopters to open the gates of a 52-million Euro factory

Airbus Helicopters has opened a new factory in Romania after an investment worth 52 million Euro, where the twin-engine H215 helicopter will be manufactured, according to Agerpres. The first aircraft is expected to be out of the assembly line in 2018. The Airbus Helicopters Industries factory is located at Ghimbav, close to Brasov, stretching over 10,000 sqm. The H215 helicopter is a heavy-weight, twin-engine helicopter with capabilities for multiple missions, targeting the global market. According to a press release quoted by Agerpres, the factory is completed, while the equipment needed for the manufacturing and assembly of the helicopter will be progressively added. At full capacity, the Ghimbav factory will employ 350 workers, with the first employees having already started on a 12-month training programme at the Airbus factory in France. Airbus Helicopters Romania, which is a customer centre of Airbus Helicopters, was officially created in 2002. Located in Brasov, the company has developed activities related to the civil, parapublic and military markets.
