OMV Petrom opens its first station for charging electric cars in Romania

The largest oil and gas company in Romania OMV Petrom will open this week, in partnership with energy company Electrica, the first fast-charging station for electric cars, a press release shows.

2017-01-12 16:15:52

It is the first step of OMV Petrom in the field of electric mobility. The station is part of a pilot project initiated by Electrica and OMV Petrom, which means installing fast charging points for electric cars in four OMV stations and the headquarters of Electrica and OMV Petrom.

In each of the mentioned stations there will be installed charging points with a maximum capacity of 50 kWh. This means that a full electric car can charge 80 per cent of its battery capacity in around 20 minutes compared to a regular electric outlet.

According to the Association of Producers and Importers of Automobiles, the number of electric and hybrid cars sold in Romania doubled in 2015 (495) compared to 2014 (236).
