Minister Negrescu: Romania is profoundly pro-European, we will be even more significant after Brexit completion
Minister Delegate for European Affairs Victor Negrescu said on Thursday that Romania is a profoundly pro-European state and will become more significant after the Brexit process is completed. 2017-10-27 10:30:59
"The upward path that Romania has been on since the accession has not gone unnoticed. Ten years after accession, we are a profoundly pro-European country, and we will become even more significant after the Brexit process is completed," Victor Negrescu told the conference on "10 years since Romania's accession to the European Union: from cohesion to convergence," organized by the European Commission Representation Office in Romania, according to Agerpres.
In his opinion, Romania must take on the role of generating a debate about the shared values. "We want to actively participate in the reflection process on the redefinition of the European project, but we also need, to capitalize on our position within the European Union, higher participation of the population in the decision-making process," said Victor Negrescu.
In view of the first mandate at the EU Council's Presidency, the minister delegate for European affairs explained that the reform of the cohesion policy is part of the rethinking process of the future post-2020 multiannual financial framework, a file that Romania will manage in the first half of 2019.
