Petrom builds its own city
STRAULESTI With a reported 70
million Euro investment, leading oil and
gas company Petrom announced plans
to build one central office complex in
Bucharest, dubbed Petrom City.
This will be constructed on Petromowned
land in Straulesti, north Bucharest,
on the premises of a former fuel
depot.
Construction will start this year and
the entire complex could be completed
by 2009. From a total surface of about
200,000 sqm, the complex will have 46,000 sqm office spaces and almost
30,000 sqm will be built underground.
This will be an attempt to centralise
all the Petrom services, over 60 sites nationwide,
in one place. Currently there
are 3,000 employees located in five offices
in Bucharest and its surroundings.
The first part of Petrom City should
be ready in early 2008 when 1,700 employees
will move in. Then, gradually
until 2009, all the rest of the employees
in Bucharest and the surroundings will
follow.
