Microsoft Romania opens Timisoara center in Openville project
As of the beginning of this year Microsoft Romania’s center based in Timisoara operates in the United Business Center 1 (UBC 1) building in Openville.
The Openville project integrates the current Iulius Mall Timisoara and is currently under construction and is set to become the largest mixed-use project in the west of Romania and the main business, shopping and leisure attraction in the region.
The Microsoft office in Timisoara is part of Microsoft’s global center for Customer Service and Support and includes a team of IT specialists that has been developing locally, year after year, since 2012.
“The engineering & support center in Romania is strategic for Microsoft, as we built a strong team that services clients in the EMEA region for both cloud and on-premises technologies. Providing an ergonomic, technologized workspace that is adapted to modern needs is integral to our strategy as employer, Timişoara being the first city where we move into premises that are fitted out in accordance with the most recent design language of Microsoft, and at the end of 2020 we are set to consolidate our operations in Bucharest in a new head office,” noted Adrian Purcarea, Director of Support Engineering EMEA and Site Lead Romania.
The Openville project will be developed in three phases; the first phase of development is pending completion and will include: 47,000 sqm of additional retail premises, 50,000 sqm of office premises in operation (UBC 1, UBC 2, UBC 3) and another 52,000 sqm under construction (the UBC 0 building), a park, a traffic underpass, and approximately 4,070 parking spaces.
