IRE asks energy associations to work together for the energy sector
The Romanian National Institute for the Study of Energy Usage (IRE), the representative of Romania at Eurelectric – The Energy Industry Union, calls for mobilization to all the associations, to work together for the energy sector.
Corina Popescu, president of IRE, said: “Worldwide, we are going through a complicated period. Climate change is seen as one of the greatest global threats today, and the energy sector is one of the main polluters, being one of the major sources of greenhouse gases. That is why, at the level of the European Union, decisions have been made regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, with a decisive impact on the European and, obviously, Romanian energy sector.
In addition, internally, we are going through a difficult period for many of the energy companies. Emergency Ordinance 114/2018, recently amended by another, GEO 19/2019, and the avalanche of related secondary regulations, have disturbed the energy market players. That is why I think that they need to be very well represented in front of the European and Romanian authorities, to promote their interests and needs. Together, more active and more determined, we are doing things so that we can generate changes in the Romanian energy sector.”
