The Diplomat-Bucharest: Meet the Team!
Cristina Millio, Business Development Manager:
The world is now more connected than ever, the Internet of Things is here – these are the main messages that we get from all the devices that we unavoidably use today. One might believe that, since you can now access industry information via the Internet, the days of our “offline” meetings are gone in the present business world. The benefits of accessible information and data are clearly undeniable, but it is more and more visible that constant technological change and increasing reliance on digital make us miss a little bit what defined us from the very beginning: the human connection.
The business connection is also our main objective at The Diplomat – Bucharest. Besides our printed or online versions of the magazines that we have developed in the past years, we bring business communities together in dedicated events and offer them the most effective grounds to share and shape their ideas. I strongly believe that people can help each other uncovering ideas and spark inspiration when they get to know each other on a personal level.
This is my favorite part of our mission, bringing people together to learn and share, to network and benefit from each other’s experience. Moreover, I like to notice that our events add a layer of human heat to managing companies’ image by mixing a social aspect into the industry branding efforts. They say that you are the sum of all the people you have ever met, and I am fortunate that I get to meet inspiring people in my everyday work. Now, at our 15 years anniversary celebration, I want to thank my dear colleagues, my business partners and to all the beautiful people that I was privileged to meet since I am part of The Diplomat – Bucharest family!
Magda Purice, journalist and events communicator:
My decade with The Diplomat – Bucharest is a continuous story of self-becoming, a sincere and profound self-analyzing but also self-indulging SWOT undergoing process, pretty much like in anyone’s life. When I look now at the covers of The Diplomat – Bucharest of 5 years’ and 10 years’ celebration issues, now being part of the 15 years’ anniversary, I realize that it is not the time that transforms us and makes us who we are, quite the opposite. I don’t like to count the number of interviews, analysis, emails and hours spent during these ten years, because who does it, apart from statisticians and profilers? I value the past time in terms of todays and tomorrows, this is a wonderful present tense continuous exercise for me.
What I do at The Diplomat – Bucharest no and what have I done in the past ten years? The wonderful daughter of one of my colleagues put it like this: I try to do my best – and this describes exactly what I do every day, with one mention: What is do always comes in the context of the people, be they colleagues, family, friends or any ones. As I have built my different work experiences in various environments, I understood that, no matter the project, the job description or the macro-economic context, we remain human beings and we must keep the essence that define us: the togetherness.
The English language has a wonderful way of putting in word the “human being” essence and it is almost philosophical. Because I feel that “being” means that we all are the designers of our own undergoing process of endlessly creating the best version about ourselves, both humans and humanity.
Petre Barac, Editor-in-chief:
I joined The Diplomat – Bucharest team three years ago, when I was looking for professional stability. The Diplomat has given me more than that. I found here a united team and colleagues from whom I had a lot to learn. Over the last three years, I managed to grow as a journalist and as a person, having a high editorial freedom. I have spent three years in a small but ambitious company that has managed to grow steadily and sustainably, given that we operate in an industry defined by instability.
We have very high standards for every project time and I am very proud of the many achievements of our team in all these years. Automotive Today was probably the most special and the most challenging project at its debut in 2018. Now we are in 2019, and the second edition of the yearbook has exceeded all our expectations. Automotive Today is just one of The Diplomat – Bucharest’s successful projects in its 15-year history. I am confident that many other successful projects will follow!
Silvia Furnea, Desktop Publishing Specialist:
My career started and has been built with care and friendship within The Diplomat – Bucharest. I started as a professional in desktop publishing and the process of working in this team has shaped my career and also my personal life. My professional connections became both life-long friendships and successful business collaborations. What I appreciate in my collaboration with my team is that, here, I was given the creative freedom to evolve, to learn and for this, I am so grateful. Also, working with my colleagues, it has encouraged me to push boundaries and personal limits. I think I am entitled to say that it truly never feels like working in the classic meaning of the word. With each magazine and project, I am looking forward to express yet another idea and creative endeavor.
