United Way Romania joins Giving Tuesday, aims to raise 2,000 Euro in one day

On “Giving Tuesday” movement, United Way Romania foundation aims to raise 2,000 Euro to help deprived children to continue their education.
If we have shopping days in November – Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we also have a day of goodwill. A time when we encourage generosity and social involvement, in order to support the less fortunate. This is the idea that gave birth to Giving Tuesday, launched worldwide in 2012, which has gradually become an international movement adopted in over 150 countries. In Romania, GivingTuesday has been celebrated for the first time in 2017.
Giving Tuesday is usually on the last Tuesday of November or the first Tuesday of December. This year, is December 3rd.
“United Way Romania challenges you! On Giving Tuesday, do a good deed and help the deprived children to continue their education. School abandonment is a problem of the whole society. When a poor child has no clothes and food, no desk or place to do her or his homework and no parents to help, the risk of school dropout is huge. Our aim for Giving Tuesday 2019 – on December 3rd – is to raise money so we can equip a class of poor children with winter clothes, so they don’t suffer from cold, when they go to school. We want and we can, with the help of the most generous of you, raise 2000 euros, through 1000 SMS of 2 euros each. You can do a good deed, too: on Tuesday, December 3rd, send VIITOR via SMS to 8844 and donate 2 euros, so that a disadvantaged child can go to school. If we receive 1000 SMS on December 3rd, we manage to equip a class of children with thick winter clothes,” a press release shows.
