LeaderTalks in ENERGY – PETRE STROE, General Manager MET: The supplier market continues to support the producers and consumers, generating liquidity on the market but not without a major impact for suppliers
The suppliers on the energy market handled the current situation with the available tools. We cannot say that there is a strategy to get out of this situation, with clear deadlines. We hope that, in May, we will separate the crisis in health sector and the economic context, so that the economy enters a normal path. In my opinion, the economic recovery will take at least 6 months. But the impact on the suppliers’ market is consistent. For example, the price for the energy supply was calculated before the crisis at 260 lei / MWh, and now it is 130 lei / MWh. I believe that the supplier market continues to support the producers and consumers market, generating liquidity in the market but it is only fair to mention that the impact of these price developments is defined at three million Euro impact for us.
The multitude of legislative acts is not always in favor of the market. All these measures can interact with the very fine mechanism of the energy sector, e mechanism that has been built over years, with regulations that have been difficult to put into practice. When the economy returns to normal, we must take care so that these short-term measures do not become elements that disturb this fine mechanism.
