Madalin Popescu, DTSE Romania: “We want to become a competence center for HR and reporting services”
In July 2013, the Deutsche Telekom Business Services start-up was founded in Bucharest and it became the European shared service provider for the Deutsche Telekom Group. In 2017, Deutsche Telekom Services Europe was founded and gathered under one umbrella all the shared service centres in Europe.
As a result, in May 2017, the name was changed from Deutsche Telekom Business Services to Deutsche Telekom Services Europe Romania. On short and medium-term, the company aims to become a competence center for HR and reporting services, to offer process automation/analysis/optimization services, to support design and establish E2E for HR scope. The Diplomat-Bucharest talked to Madalin Popescu, Managing Director, DTSE Romania to find out more about company plans and objectives.
What is your company’s business approach in the current economic context?
I think the shortest way to describe our current business approach would be: Same services at the same quality. From this point of view nothing has changed, we are continuing our activity and at the same time we are exploring new business opportunities with focus on digitalization and automatization. We keep all lines of communication with our clients open and we adapt to their changing needs.
Of course, it’s important to mention that all this is possible thanks to our employees whose health and well-being come first. We were among the first companies to apply the existing business continuity plan and send everybody in home office, including operations.
How would you describe the latest developments regarding the local telecom market?
In spite of the political scene and socio-economic background of the last two months, we are here for our clients. All networks are as stable as before and there is a constant effort and dedication to cover and exceed our clients’ changing needs.
How would you describe your business development on the local market?
Not taking into consideration the last two months, I can whole-heartedly say, there is a growing receptiveness on the local market for companies in the DT group which can be summed up in two words: scope expansion. We started offering new services to our current clients and this year we took on a new Romanian client – Deutsche Telekom Pan Net Romania.
What are your short and medium-term plans in Romania?
Our short and medium-term plans, based on hired talent, are to become a competence center for HR and reporting services, to offer process automation/analysis/optimization services, to support design and establish E2E for HR scope. The main focus is on automation (bots). As a main program for automation we use BluePrism, a very good platform for bot implementation, it is one of the best on the market. We assure the entire process automation, starting with process analysis, implementation, testing and making our bots fully operational. Until now, we have eight operational bots, which are working side by side with us. Many more are in development or analysis stages. All bots are developed in house by our teams.
I am certain there are a lot of peaks to conquer this year and with them there will be a lot of work. Nonetheless, we never back down from a challenge and, as our motto says: we make it happen!
