Transelectrica: Completion of the 400 kV ring in Western Romania takes shape: the installation of cables on the new high voltage line Portile de Fier – Anina has started
The National Power Grid Company Transelectrica SA announced significant progress in the construction of the 400 kV power line between Portile de Fier and Anina, Reșița, part of the project to close the 400 kV ring of Romania. During this week, the action of installing the high voltage cables on the section of the new Portile de Fier – Anina line has started. On this occasion, the Secretary of State responsible for energy in the General Secretariat of the Government, Lucian Rusu, together with Cătălin Nitu, President of CNTEE Transelectrica SA, and Marius Viorel Stanciu, member of CNTEE Transelectrica SA, visited the site of the energy infrastructure work, a strategic project of national importance for Romania.
The objective of the 400 kV power line Portile de Fier – (Anina) – Resita is an investment with a total value of over 122 million lei, comprising two sections: a new construction of 81.1 kilometres with 259 pillars (Portile de Fier – Anina with a value of over 100 million lei) and the modernization of an existing line of 142 pillars (the section Anina – Resita with a value of over 20 million lei – a completed project). The total length of the line will be 117 kilometres.
“If 20 years ago, we were only talking about the role of Transelectrica in the National Energy System, now we are talking about a position integrated in the European network, from where it derives completely and completely other needs and development perspectives. The company is going through a transition to digitalization of processes. The Company’s investments in projects to strengthen the electricity transmission network and increase the interconnection capacity, such as this high voltage power line, will result, in addition to ensuring the safety of the National Energy System, and the creation of conditions favorable for the connection to the network of new production capacities, especially based on renewable sources (wind, photovoltaic, biomass) and especially of new large consumers. The National Electric Power System is constantly evolving, and Transelectrica has a vital role to play. I assure the management of this Company of all my support and that of the Government in continuing this way“, said Lucian Rusu, Secretary of State within the General Secretariat of the Government.
“The national power grid is at least as important as road infrastructure, because it functions as an energy highway providing the” fuel “for the country’s economic development. Therefore, the consolidation of the existing network and the development of new facilities are part of our strategic objectives, with a crucial role for the national economy, for the continuity of energy supply to consumers and for achieving European goals in the energy sector. This investment, the 400 kV Iron Gates – Anina Overhead Power Line, is large-scale, both in its role in the National Power System and in the technical complexity of the project itself and the challenges that the project team and execution teams have. they greeted them in progress. I thank everyone for their effort, professionalism and for their contribution to building the national energy infrastructure for future generations!”, said Cătălin Nitu, President of the CNTEE Transelectrica SA Management Board.
The investment objective of the 400 kV OHL Iron Gates – (Anina) – Reșița is part of the 400 kV voltage switching project of the Iron Gates-Reșița-Timișoara-Săcălaz-Arad Axis, which completes the 400 kV Ring of Romania, in southwest area. It will make a significant contribution to increasing the performance of the network, but also to increasing the capacity to connect to the network both for new energy consumers who want to develop their activities in the western and south-western area, and for the connection of power sources. production of electricity, especially renewable ones. The realization of this project, correlated with the refurbishment of the Resita Transformation Power Station and the interconnection with Serbia through the 400 kV Overhead Power Line Resita – Pancevo, will lead to a significant increase of up to 500 MW in the capacity to take on new consumers, new sources of electricity production as well as cross-border transmission capacity. These capacities will increase up to 1000 MW, at the completion of the entire Iron Gates Axis – Reșița – Timișoara – Săcălaz – Arad. These major investment projects create the premises for sustainable economic development.
