Cristina Paveliu, Michelin: “People want to feel reassured that the company they work for it’s really a safe company”
“Even before this sanitary situation, we had a couple of days a week the possibility to work from home. But we had at least one day a week then the full team would gather together and it really helped in keeping the team together, in sharing the experiences and making sure that they still have connection between them,” Cristina Paveliu, HR Manager Michelin, Corporate & Business Services said during the web conference Workplace of the future powered by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“What we discovered as the months went by was that during the online communications, immediately after everybody started working from home, was that we can’t go on with the same tools that we were using in the past. When you are online, we miss somehow some of the non-verbal communication,” she said. “What we did to improve, to cover for this absence of the face-to-face communication was to simply make all kind of live events where people could ask their questions. We had more frequent one-to-one discussions online, we had even birthday celebrations online. Last month, we organized the first teambuilding online. You have to make an extra effort to make up for this inconvenience of not being all together in the same room, but I think it’s possible. People want to feel reassured that the company they work for it’s really a safe company, strong company that will be there for them also tomorrow.”
