Posta Romana signs 200 million RON financing agreement with EximBank, announces ‘ambitious’ investment program
Posta Romana has signed with EximBank a financing agreement worth 200 million RON, which provides the necessary funds to start one of the largest investment programs in modernization and digitalization in the last 40 years.
The company’s investment program aims to consolidate and maintain the market leader position in the Romanian postal sector and aims at investments in both the postal infrastructure, its digitization and modernization, as well as in the human resources sector.
The loan granted by EximBank for a period of 12 years will be used for:
• automation of logistics processes by setting up new transit / sorting centers in North Bucharest and Cluj – worth 68 million RON;
• creation and implementation of an integrated digital management system architecture (hardware and software), necessary to ensure information flows – amounting to 128.3 million RON;
• rehabilitation of the historical monument buildings in Timişoara, Piatra Neamţ, Oradea and Cluj, which are in the patrimony of the Romanian Post, and their capitalization both from a commercial, cultural and historical point of view – amounting to 54.5 million RON.
“By concluding this financing agreement with EximBank, we opened a first page in the history we will write regarding the development of the Romanian Post services. Thus, we begin an unprecedented stage – an extensive modernization process, which the Romanian Post has not had since the interwar period, through which we will bring the company to international standards in the field of postal services. We are in talks with both the World Bank and the European Commission, as well as with the Ministry of European Funds, in order to obtain financing that will continue the investments started with the loan from EximBank, so that, in the long run, Posta Romana becomes a reference competitor on the market,”, said Horia Grigorescu, General Director of Posta Romana.
”The competitiveness of the EximBank offer turns the partnership we have with Posta Romana into a tradition, and this means that we have the ability to face challenges, to be open to new approaches and to adapt to the needs of our partners. These are qualities that allow us to continue and expand collaborations with companies with ambitious development plans, such as Posta Romana, to which we can provide the financial resources necessary for the successful implementation of investment projects ,” said Traian Halalai, Executive President, EximBank.
