Romania’s strategic projects in the field of green electricity transport, developed with EU funds, represent a priority for the Government: Secretary General of the Government
Strategic projects in the field of electricity transmission in Romania, including the integration of green energy in the national system, are a priority for the Government and are developing at an accelerated pace with European funds accessed by Transelectrica, said the Secretary General of the Government, Antonel Tanase, during a working visit to analyze the state of works on the internal overhead power line between Cernavoda and Stalpu.
The construction works of the Cernavoda-Stalpu 400 kV Overhead Power Line, an essential investment for consolidating Romania’s energy security, are advancing at a sustained pace. The energy infrastructure objective The 400 kV Cernavoda-Stalpu Wind Power Line is a project of common interest at European level, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and developed by the National Electricity Transmission Company Transelectrica SA, whose actions are administered by the General Secretariat of the Government on behalf of the Romanian state.
The 400 kV Cernavoda-Stalpu Wind Power Line is part of the North-South Interconnection East Electricity Corridor in Central and South-Eastern Europe and aims to strengthen the cross-section between the west coast of the Black Sea and the rest of the European system, while contributing to the strengthening of the electricity transmission network in Romania, to the increase of the interconnection capacity between Romania and Bulgaria and to the integration of wind energy in the Dobrogea area. The total value of the project is around 75 million euros, of which 27 million euros is European non-reimbursable funding.
The investment, which has a deadline of May 2022, includes 4 subsequent projects:
• construction of the new 400 kV overhead power line and the connection in Gura Ialomiței Station;
• extension of the Cernavoda Transformation Power Station and connection of the new line;
• construction of the 400 kV Stalpu Station;
• extension of the Gura Ialomiței Power Station with two 400 kV cells;
The construction of this line will contribute to the consolidation of the internal electricity transmission network, given the development prospects of the electricity production park in the Dobrogea area. The new 400 kV line will have a length of about 160 kilometers, and for its commissioning it is necessary to build the 400 kV Stalpu substation and the extension of the Cernavoda and Gura Ialomiţei substations.
