US Ambassador Zuckerman visits Hidroelectrica’s Portile de Fier, announces ‘strategic investments’ in Romania
US Ambassador to Romania, Adrian Zuckerman, has paid a working visit to “Portile de Fier” of Hidroelectrica, together with the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu. The official delegation was received by Bogdan Badea, the president of the Hidroelectrica Management Board, together with other representatives of the company.
“The intention of Exim US is to support strategic investments in Romania and to provide financing lines of approximately 7 billion dollars. Ms. Kimberle Reed, President of Exim Bank, will arrive on Monday to discuss the agreement between the Romanian Government and Exim for the financing of energy and infrastructure projects, following a visit to the Cernavoda nuclear power plant,” said US Ambassador Adrian Zuckerman at the event.
“We welcome the American interest in developing and supporting Romania’s energy projects, for mutual benefit. Hidroelectrica expresses all the desire to collaborate with companies from the United States on large-scale projects, as partners,” said Bogdan Badea, chairman of the board of directors of Hidroelectrica. “We have ambitious plans in a field that is not only profitable, but also in continuous development, the direction being renewable energy.”
The visit of the US Ambassador comes as a result of the initiating, on October 9, in Washington D.C., of an extended intergovernmental agreement, which allows the cooperation between Romania and the United States in the field of developing projects of strategic importance in the energy field.
