Transelectrica successfully puts into operation the 400 kV LEA section Oradea Sud – Nadab following 4 million RON investment
The 400 kV Oradea Sud – Nădab Overhead Power Line was put into operation, thus making it possible for the entire 400 kV Oradea Sud – Nadab – Bekescsaba (Hungary) section to enter commercial operation, Transelectrica announces. The investment worth 4 million RON was completed six months before the contractual term, the works being executed by SC Electromontaj SA Bucharest. The construction of this line section will increase the cross-border capacity with Hungary to 1000 MW.
“The operationalization of the 400 kV Line Oradea Sud – Bekescsaba (Hungary) is a success in terms of securing electricity in the northwestern part of the country, thus allowing a sustainable economic development of this area, both through the possibility of connecting new consumers, as well as new renewable power plants. This investment has a significant contribution to increasing the safety of the National Electric Power System, to reducing the costs of managing network congestion and to reducing its own technological consumption. One of the most important benefits is that it will allow the implementation of important investment and major maintenance programs in the area, with an impact on improving the technical performance and reliability of the electricity transmission network. The commissioning of this line in the middle of the contractual period was possible due to the efforts and involvement of the contractor Electromontaj SA Bucharest, the team of specialists of CNTEE Transelectrica SA, the county and local authorities from Bihor County and Electrica SA. I would like to thank my colleagues who helped to put this project in a straight line and complete this project, as well as the builder who understood the great importance of the investment and turned the engines to the maximum. It was a team success, a result of a very good collaboration with the authorities and the other operators involved. It is proof that it is possible,” said Catalin Nitu, the president of the CNTEE Transelectrica SA Management Board.
The works were started in August 2020 and consisted of the construction of 14 foundations, the assembly and erection of 15 pillars necessary for the completion of the section 400 kV OHL Oradea Sud – Nadab, which has been in conservation since 2008, due to difficulties related mainly of expropriation procedures. The investment, which will ensure the increase of the country’s interconnection capacity and will contribute to the completion of the 400 kV Ring of Romania, was resumed in the summer of this year after more than 12 years of blockages.
The project of the 400 kV Overhead Power Line Oradea South – Bekescsaba (Hungary), a total investment of over 87 million RON, was partially put into use starting with 2008, namely the double circuit section, OHL 400 kV Nadab – Bekescsaba (Hungary ) with a length of 60 kilometers, of which on the territory of Romania 22 kilometers, simultaneously with the 400 kV OHL Arad – Nadab. The 400 kV OHL section Oradea Sud – Nadab has a total length of 72 kilometers.
