Vodafone Romania publishes its sustainability report for 2019-2020, focuses on ‘digital society’
Vodafone Romania published the Sustainability Report on the company’s activities and performance between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020 from an economic, social and environmental point of view.
The report is made around the three strategic pillars assumed, Digital Society, Inclusion for All and Planet, which define the areas where the company believes it can have a significant impact on society, and the changes or technologies brought by Vodafone Romania can improve people’s lives. Also, the specific objectives of each of the three pillars of activity are pursued, aligned with the global strategy and mission of the Vodafone Group. The reporting process follows the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the Core option.
Vodafone Romania says it will continue to focus its efforts to ensure a more connected future, in which digitalization supports people, especially contributing to key sectors of society, such as education and health, and helping to rebuild Romania following the crisis caused by COVID-19 virus.
Key moments in the reported period include:
• Acquisition of the UPC Romania operator and conclusion of the legal merger, following which the clients benefited from the first mobile, fixed and TV offers;
• Acquisition of 100% renewable energy and implementation of state-of-the-art technical cooling solutions in the main data centers to reduce electricity consumption and, implicitly, the carbon footprint;
• Launching the Vodafone Spirit internally and moving to work from home for more than 80% of employees, at the outbreak of the pandemic;
• Development of the School in a suitcase program and launch of the DreamLab application by the Vodafone Romania Foundation to support international oncology studies, later adapted for research on the SARV-CoV-2 virus.
