Florin Iordackioiu, Orange Romania: “We needed to redesign the entire learning concept to match and function within the new work landscape”
“Starting last year, learning and development was a lot about technology and adaptation. We were really interested last year in seeing the changes in context to understand the expectation of our people towards learning,” Florin Iordackioiu, Learning and Development Manager, Orange Romania, said during the fifth edition of Learning & Development Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“We made a lot of studies, research and surveys among our colleagues and employees and we found out that, in the first part of 2020, when the pandemic become a certitude, more than a quarter of our employees mentioned Learning as a major tool for them to be able to go through the crisis in good condition.
We understood that people really want to take the experience of the crisis, learn out of it, leave the pain of it. They were aware and actually decided to do that. That was a powerful signal to us. We understood that people would really love to become agents of learning. 74 percent of our employees declared that they would encourage their colleagues to constantly develop by learning new things
In this context, one of our programs – Learning Experts at Orange built and engaged people from different fields, willing to share their knowledge and expertise to their colleagues. We found out that, following running the monthly sessions of this program, that this was a very powerful tool and engine with a strong traction in terms of learning.
In our L&D Strategy, we focused during 2020 and so far, on four directions: Be Present (to be able to provide employees with personalized learning programs dedicated to their needs), Be meaningful, Be Connected and Be Customer-centric, which has become even more important now, more than ever.”
