Secretary of State Dan Dragan: “Within the Ministry of Energy we pay special attention to energy efficiency, digitization”

“Technology is an opportunity to develop the energy sector. Increasing energy efficiency, developing renewable energy resources, and developing smart grid technologies are among the top investments and concerns for the development of the energy sector. The future of energy distribution will be digital,” Dan Dragan, Secretary of State, Ministry of Energy said during Digital Transformation in Energy & Utilities, organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Within the Ministry of Energy, we pay special attention to development directions, and energy efficiency, digitalization and the development of the legal framework are priority directions. Digitization will mean a transformation to a smart grid network.
The digitalization part is a concern for the Ministry of Energy in the context of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Our intention is to help companies in the market to digitize consumption. A major component of this recovery and resilience plan is digitization. We are convinced that, following the discussions between the Ministry of Investments and European Funds and the European Commission, directions of action will be found to support the approval of projects on digitalization in the energy sector.
Other funds will be available in the next period and I am referring to the Modernization Fund, which is in the period of preparation for implementation. The Ministry of Energy supports digitization, which will lead to lower costs for final consumers. Companies need to be prepared and invest in digitalization to remain competitive.”
