Daikin Romania plants 20,000 trees through the ‘Plant Air’ initiative
Daikin Romania, the local subsidiary of the most important global air conditioner manufacturer, supports for the fourth year the actions carried out by We plant good deeds in Romania, a vast national afforestation initiative with the help of volunteers. In total, over 20,000 trees were planted through the “Plant Air” initiative carried out by Daikin, with the company contributing this year to increase forested areas and ensure cleaner air with 1,000 forest seedlings, which were planted in Suceava county.
According to official data, over 20 million cubic meters of wood are illegally cut annually in Romania and the rate of afforestation is below the optimal level. According to the latest reports,, forests occupy at national level only 29% of the country’s surface, while the optimal percentage of afforestation is 40%.
“Our mission is to improve the quality of the air we breathe both indoors and outdoors. Therefore, all our activities, practices and processes are developed and implemented having environmental sustainability in mind. We actively promote environmentally friendly, energy-efficient solutions and continuously innovate to ensure a low impact on the environment. Thus, we are honored that this year we are part of the We plant good deeds in Romania initiative and that we continue to contribute to air quality improvement”, says Daniel Vasile, Managing Director of Daikin Romania.
Overall, the afforestation actions in which Daikin participated were aimed not only at improving air quality and reducing pollution, but also at reducing the risk of landslides and preventing the process of erosion.
In the long term, Daikin’s strategy aims to continue and expand programs and services that reduce the impact on the environment, the company’s goal being to have a net zero carbon footprint throughout its activity by 2050, including the production, supply chain and product life cycle.
Today, Daikin has already reduced greenhouse gas emissions at group level during the development and production processes by 70% compared to the 2005 fiscal year, with professional air conditioners reaching 97% of green products’ sales volume.
