Distributie Energie Electrica Romania carries out projects of approximately 340 million RON through co-financing from European funds
Distributie Energie Electrica Romania (DEER), part of the Electrica Group, continues to invest in network infrastructure for the modernization and development of the distribution system, being in recent years the largest investor in the modernization and refurbishment of electricity distribution networks.
The most important investments were aimed at improving the quality of the distribution service and increasing operational efficiency by modernizing, automating facilities, implementing modern technologies, and increasing energy efficiency by reducing network losses.
The company’s investment projects follow the strategic guidelines for the development of smart grids that allow the development, connection, and operation of multiple and widely distributed sources, ensuring the framework of the transition to green energy.
DEER has initiated several important investment projects through co-financing from European funds. These would be largely funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through POIM 2014-2020, Priority Axis 6: Promoting clean energy and energy efficiency in order to support a low carbon economy, Specific Objectives 6.3 and 6.1.- Call code: POIM / 290/6/3 / “Reducing the average electricity consumption at the household level” and Call code: POIM / 289/6/1 / “Increasing the production of energy from less exploited renewable resources ( biomass, biogas, geothermal), production ”.
The company’s contribution to these projects will be about 22% of the value of the works.
The submitted projects were accepted and declared eligible and aim at the following objectives: improving operational and energy performance, facilitating the optimization of energy consumption to consumers, infrastructure management to ensure operation at quality parameters set by the Performance Standard, development and modernization of distribution facilities, digitization of existing transformation stations and the adaptation of the capacities to take over the production from renewable resources from the adjacent areas.
Three of the complex projects submitted have already received approval for funding under POIM 6.3 – Call code: POIM / 290/6/3 / “Reducing average household electricity consumption”, with a total eligible value exceeding 160 million lei, which will be completed in 2023 and refer to:
1. Implementation of an Intelligent Electricity Distribution System in a homogeneous area in the Rogerius neighborhood, Oradea.
2. Implementation of an intelligent electricity distribution system in a homogeneous area in Targu Mureş municipality, Mureş county.
3. Realization of an intelligent distribution system in a homogeneous area of electricity consumers from Ţiglina 1, 2, MICRO 16 (Ţiglina 3), MICRO 17 (Ţiglina 4) neighborhoods, from Galati municipality, Galati county.
The fourth project “Intelligent Measurement Solutions Central Region – Codlea and Ghimbav Cities”, within the same axis, is in the final phase of technical and economic evaluation and has an eligible value of 50 million lei.
These projects aim, in addition to network infrastructure modernization works (lines, stations, substations), the implementation of advanced asset management (AMS) and measurement data management (MDM) systems and the installation of smart metering meters in areas. homogeneous in the cities of Oradea, Galați, Codlea and Târgu Mureș, including a number of over 40,000 household consumers.
On the POIM Axis 6.1 – Call code: POIM / 289/6/1 / 2014-2020 – Increasing the production of energy from less exploited renewable resources (biomass, biogas, geothermal) – distribution, three more projects were submitted, which are to be be evaluated from a technical-economic perspective for the approval of the financing.
The projects aim at building a 110 / 20Kv Leordina power station, in order to increase the electricity distribution capacity in Valea Vişeului and Valea Izei area, Maramureș county, respectively the modernization of the 110/20 / 6Kv station in Băița and the 110 / 20Kv station in Lechința .
For the medium term, the company plans to further modernize the network infrastructure, accelerate digitization, develop alternative channels for user interactions, and create a modern work environment for employees, by implementing the concept of Digital Distribution. In the long run, the company’s projects have in mind the orientation towards the smart grid concept in line with industry trends.
Distributie Energie Electrica Romania (DEER), part of the Electrica Group, is the most important national operator of electricity distribution networks, with a coverage of 18 counties, from three geographical areas, representing 40.7% of Romania’s territory. DEER distributes electricity to over 3.8 million users, covers an area of 97,196 km2 and manages 198,988 km of power lines.
