E-Distributie Dobrogea aims to modernize its medium and low voltage installations

E-Distributie Dobrogea, the electricity distribution operator, part of the Enel group, has launched a bid to award design and execution services for the maintenance and modernization of medium and low voltage power lines and installations in Constanta, Calarasi, Ialomita, and Tulcea counties.

The grid modernization works aim to increase their resilience and reliability. The investments in medium voltage grids are reflected in the significant cut in the number of unplanned outages and, in particular, in their duration.

The framework agreement covers a period of 36 months and amounts to over 125 million RON without VAT (25.4 million euros). Interested companies can submit their offers until 30.06.2021 for one or more of the four lots put up for bid. The selection will be made based on the most advantageous financial offers.

The maintenance or modernization works target the overhead and / or underground power lines and the medium/ low voltage installations of E-Distributie Dobrogea.

In Dobrogea, E-Distributie has planned for 2021 investments of 176 million RON (35.7 million euro) in the modernization and digitalization of electricity grids. Out of this amount, 22 million RON are allocated for modernization/construction works of medium voltage lines and substations, and 35 million RON for modernization/construction works of low voltage lines.

Currently, to assure the electricity supply in good conditions to customers in Constanța and Slobozia, the company is modernizing two transformer stations; also, both substations at the Eforie Nord transformation station were replaced with some with a higher power, of 40MVA, to ensure the connection to the grid of the new consumers in the South part of Constanța County. In Călărași County, works are being carried out to improve the low voltage lines, to the benefit of consumers in Oltenița and Nicolae Bălcescu.

The value of this year’s electricity grids modernization and maintenance programs is added to the investments of 1.49 billion RON, made in total by E-Distributie Dobrogea in the period 2006 – 2020.
