Hidroelectrica signed the contract for the modernization of the 110 kV substations CHE Strejești, CHE Arcești, CHE Slatina and CHE Lotru Ciunget, located on the rivers Olt and Lotru. The works, initially estimated at 8.3 million RON without VAT, were awarded to Electromontaj Carpați, at a value of 7.5 million RON without VAT, as a result of a public procurement procedure in which 6 participants submitted bids.
The works to be executed in a period of 18 months consist in replacing the primary and secondary equipment with state-of-the-art technical and computer equipment, which would allow both local control and remote control.
“We continue to modernize the 110 kV substations, our intention being to introduce as many of the capacities as possible in a new life and operation cycle. We have a great responsibility in ensuring the security of the national energy system, Hidroelectrica being the company most often used to balance electricity consumption with production in the national market. The objectives in our portfolio must be ready to intervene promptly when called into the system. This forces us to act very seriously and to invest constantly to keep the facilities in optimal working order. Step by step, we proceed to replace all obsolete equipment and introduce new technologies that allow the automation of as many processes as possible,” said Bogdan Badea, President of Hidroelectrica.
Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania and the main provider of technological services required in the National Energy System, being a vital company for a strategic sector, with implications for national security. The company operates a number of 209 plants, with a total installed capacity of 6,482 MW. To these is added the Crucea wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW.
