Frank Hajdinjak, Adrem: “We need a joint political effort to develop the infrastructure for EV”
“E-mobility is one of the important drivers of the decarbonization of our society. There are interesting business fields developing. The sustainability factor is very important if we look at a global level. We have a social responsibility for our society, for our children to support the development of a decarbonized society,” Frank Hajdinjak, Chief Strategy and Transformational Officer, Adrem Group, said during e-Mobility Forum 2021 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“There are different programs and initiative included in Fit for 55 and I think there is more to come. This will have an impact on our society in a dramatic way. E-mobility is one important factor for decarbonization. If you look at the energy balance of an electric car, if it’s not filled with renewable energy the overall balance is not so positive. Therefore, we have to invest more in renewable energy. This will have an impact on the electricity grids in the future. It will allow for completely new business models if you look at vehicle-to-grid applications for example. This is an important challenge for many industries connected to this in order to reach the targets for carbonisation. It’s not just an obligation, but a social responsibility for us to do something for our society.
In Europe we have around 200,000 charging stations, with 75 percent of them in just 4 countries: Netherlands, France, Germany, and UK. In Romania we have around 1,000 stations, out of which 25 percent are fast chargers. The share of electrified vehicles is around 0.6 percent of all cars in Romania.
We see a slow development right now. We need a joint political effort to develop the mobility of the future and the infrastructure for EV.”
