Raluca Popa, Bucharest University of Economic Studies: “More than 80 percent of my students say they want to have their own business in the future”
“What I’ve noticed mainly from my students is that in the last year they were more open to develop themselves and more oriented to develop their soft skills. They started also asking for recommendations of books for personal development.
I’m teaching economics so it’s kind of a rigid topic. I’m using my coaching skills to help the students be more interested in what they are learning. They are also asking for advice on how to develop their careers, their professional lives, what to do to find out which is the best job for them,” Raluca Andreea Popa, Lecturer, PhD, Bucharest University of Economic Studies said during People Empowering Business Forum 2021 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Jobs are changing very fast nowadays due to digitalization and students try to keep the step with this changes.
More than 80 percent of my students say they want to have their own business in the future. They are interested in more independence. They are willing to take more risks than previous generations.
They want to make decisions on how to spend their time, how much to work, and how much to relax. They aim for the freedom of having their own business even from a freelancer perspective.
Your mindset is your best asset. For sure, you need some skills for an entry-level job or any other level you apply for, but I think your mindset is also very important. Invest in yourself because it’s the best investment.”
