“Effort pays off – always!”
After 2020 which was challenging for recruitment market in general, Hays representatives in Romania have ensured that 2021 was about keeping the growth with the market which bounced back.
“Among key drivers, we started internship program – which proved to be immense success in terms of growing younger generation who shares our values and is productive,” Timur Makhmutov, Managing Director, Hays Romania, told The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“I have no doubts that next year will offer a lot of commercial opportunities. We monitor that existing market players keep very high appetite for talent – alongside new investments in greenfield & brownfield projects coming. To be successful in grasping all those opportunities, further investments in developing team capabilities are pivotal. So, we’ll focus on growing qualitatively our existing team – and on top bringing in new talents and training them in the Hays way.”

“Locally, after managing to sustain the organization in 2020, in 2021 we ensured that we put strong fundament to keep growing with market which bounced back. Among key drivers, we started internship program – which proved to be immense success in terms of growing younger generation who shares our values and is productive.
As people are key in our organization, I’m proud to say that we managed to make our team stronger on all levels, bottom to top, qualitatively and quantitively. And it’s our people who made a positive turnaround for business at the beginning of 2021 – and started to smash all-time records at the end of 2021. Engagement level according to latest internal employees survey keeps at high level. Significant achievements and breakthroughs of many team members allowed them to successfully qualify for promotions. Involving new level of responsibilities in continuously expanding business, this is pivotal for retention of key staff while market is getting increasingly competitive for talent.
Looking at particular areas, on top of boosting further established specialisms (Life Sciences, Accountancy & Finance, Sales & Marketing, HR), we have been making focus on matching demand for IT market. In IT area it related both to growing our IT Permanent Placement business and bringing new IT Contracting business to new level after start in 2020. Globally and locally we have launched Hays Technology brand to unite all IT-related subspecialisms – which will enable better experience for organisations and candidates on back of better synergies inside Hays.”

“Circumstances changed and will change in highly unpredictable manner, requiring quick reaction and adaptation. A quote describes it better: “The world will not be moving that slow any longer”. So, keeping fresh eye and being agile has proven to be key – while keeping core DNA as a team and as a business.
I have no doubts that next year will offer a lot of commercial opportunities.
PEOPLE & COMMUNITY | FOCUS ON SAFETY, SOCIAL APPROACH, LEVERAGE THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
“On group level we have introduced Hays Helps program which encourages employees to take a paid day for volunteering endeavors. While starting this on country level, we kept the already existing tradition of charity donation instead of gifts – on behalf of our partners.”

“Aside from financials, we have also made great strides in other areas that are incredibly important. Our Net Zero journey is bold and ambitious and is setting Hays apart. As a company, we became carbon neutral, and we are firmly on our journey to becoming a net zero company. Our policies and actions to reduce GHG emissions should result in a cumulative reduction in CO2 of c.50,000 tonnes by 2025.”
