Smart Villages National Conference: 200 million euros for Smart Village projects
The Romanian Association for Smart City, together with the Ilfov County Council and the City Hall of Snagov Commune, organized the first edition of the National Conference dedicated to rural communities – Smart Villages, on March 17, at Snagov Palace.
The event was attended by nearly two hundred decision makers interested in developing the Smart Village concept, industry experts, solution providers, operators, carriers, technology companies, application developers, all those involved in rural development. The purpose of the first edition of the event was to present the latest ideas and trends of sustainable rural development, with a focus on Ilfov County. During the event, Snagov City Hall launched the project “Snagov Green & Clean” – a complete concept for the development of a rural community, developed in partnership with the Romanian Association for Smart City.
The project has so far gone through several stages, including the implementation of an automatic flow of processes within the mayor’s office, public access to the Internet through the free wifi network, the opening of a Center for Digital Inclusion, in order to acquire minimum and advanced digital skills in the community. , installation of air quality monitoring stations in schools in Snagov through the City Air program, training of high school students in the Snagov 2030 competition.
Mr. Mihai Anghel, Mayor of Snagov Commune: “The Snagov Green & Clean program represents a new stage in the development of our locality. We live in a locality recognized for its attractive environment, we also have connectivity with two big cities, the capital of Romania and Ploiești. For the first time, I can announce that Snagov will be one of the beneficiaries of green transport. We all want to live in a clean, green environment. We are also open to real estate investments, but only to those responsible”.
Interaction with the state can become accessible to all, according to Eduard Dumitrașcu, president of the Romanian Association for Smart City: Romania is overly bureaucratized. We are here to help accelerate access to digital infrastructure, but also to provide digital skills for the community. The Snagov Green & Clean project successfully combines the need of the community, the openness of the administration, the regional support. It is a project from the beginning, in which we believe and will continue to be involved. “
Dragoș Preda, General Manager of SN Radiocomunicații, highlighted the strengths as well as the plans, from the point of view of the communications infrastructure: “Things are being done for people, to equalize access to opportunities. No matter what solutions we come up with for education or human resources, they are based on communications infrastructure. There are 200 million euros allocated to the smart village. Infrastructure must be a common good, not a benefit provided by a locality. “ Mr. Dragoș Preda also mentioned that at the national level, the opportunity to introduce quantum key distribution in Romania is being analyzed, but also that Romania currently has the necessary infrastructure to benefit from 4k video surveillance.
