Adrian Boiarciuc, Romgaz: “We are starting to use machine learning and optimization technologies”
“At Romgaz we structured the information on several layers, and we realized an integrated management of these infrastructures. The first layer is the common reality, where we have data flows and where we collect data from sensors, field data, licenses, data about certain assets, land, drilling. This is the common map of the territory where we have representations from various computer systems. Over this layer we have an operational layer in which we have the activity flows and we want an efficiency based on the operational activity. Here we have the planning by activities, the technical sector, the works, the part of authorization and licensing. All this must be reflected in a top, strategic layer, called the dashboard, in which strategy and execution should be aligned, and values and priorities should intertwine,” Adrian Boiarciuc, CIO, Romgaz said during Digital Transformation Conference – Energy & Utilities organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“We have a combined effort through which we want to bring to the dashboard all the necessary information to go through the operational plan. The executive of our company understood the role of this dashboard and wants its development and the integration of all services in a common dashboard. It is important that this desire is supported by top management.
We propose a 5D approach in which we should look to the future, simulation and modeling technologies. We are starting to use machine learning and optimization technologies.
Manufacturers and players in the oil and gas market face certain limitations. At the moment there is a draft government cloud emergency ordinance that should be optimized in my opinion. A concept of hybrid cloud should be approached given that certain technologies and software providers rely solely on cloud technology.
This project stipulates that any technology and any system should allow for future migration to government cloud. From my point of view, this is a restriction on the freedom to choose a software solution.”
