Senator Anca Dragu: “We need a strategic approach to support sustainable development projects”
“If we continue to use resources in the same way, we will need the resources of three planets until 2050. Society needs to change, we need to move to a more responsible approach where we recycle resources so that we get the most out of those resources.
Resources make the difference between a functioning economy and an economy affected by shocks. We need to talk about the levels at which we approach this concept of circular economy, from the individual level to the level of the authorities,” Senator Anca Dragu said during Circular Economy Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“I am glad that there is this department for sustainable development within the Government. It is a dynamic department with an extraordinary team. There is this concern for the circular economy at the government level.
At the parliamentary level we should see more seriousness regarding the implementation of sustainable development projects. We need to understand that sustainable development is a cross-cutting issue and needs to be taken seriously.
The financing part of the circular economy sometimes creates problems for the economic activity of the companies, due to the high costs.
We need a strategic approach to support sustainable development projects, and the state needs to develop financial mechanisms for implementing the circular economy.
I believe that a draft law from the Government is needed to detail the activities of the experts in sustainable development. I can confirm to you that the bills that are related to PNRR are treated with great care in the Senate and are analyzed as a matter of urgency so as to respect the respective deadlines. All political parties support PNRR-funded projects, although sometimes problems arise.”
