Smart City Industry Awards designated its winners
The Romanian Smart City Association organized the 6th edition of the Smart City Industry Awards Gala, the most important event of the Smart City Industry in Romania, which has already become a tradition.
More than 400 of the industry’s most important decision-makers gathered at the Palace of Parliament for a conference, an awards gala and an exhibition on digital transformation. The 6th edition of the gala was organized under the High Patronage of the Ministry of National Defense and Under the Academic Patronage of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
The conference “Diplomacy of Cities, from Soft Power to Smart City“, moderated by the historian Adrian Cioroianu was dedicated to peace, diplomacy and community resilience and was opened by the message addressed by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Mircea Geoana:
“Romania has not it has probably never been so strategically relevant in our modern history as it is now. I joined NATO 18 years ago. We will continue to be the key and anchor in NATO and the European Union, but we have an obligation to invest in this strategic relevance to transfer into geoeconomic relevance, development and prosperity, and smart cities, localities, communities that are dynamic and I also understand the vulnerabilities, but also the potential are the key to this success “.
The conference included statements of: Vasile Dîncu, Minister of National Defense, Victor Negrescu, MEP, László Borbély, State Councilor, Department for Sustainable Development, Government of Romania, Janina Sitaru, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dragoș Preda, General Manager, Radiocom, Corneliu Bodea, President of the Romanian Energy Center, Eduard Dumitrașcu, President of the Romanian Association for Smart City. Topics covered included city diplomacy, Safe City in the context of Smart City, NATO vision, strategy and priorities, cyber warfare and social unrest, Smart City in the regional context, hybrid threats to urban spaces and the role of community resilience.
“I think we need to look at this industry, that of Smart City, with even more attention, in logic: technology – community. And in this sense, the responsibility of the companies will be to translate this technology into useful projects, while the responsibility of the local authorities will be to think of strategies and set goals, not only in the idea of attracting money, but to implement projects that to bring added value “, said Eduard Dumitrașcu, the president of the Romanian Association for Smart City.
The winners of The Smart City Industry Awards Gala are:
- Best Smart City Project– Brașov City Hall;
- Mayor of the Year – Constantin Toma, Mayor of Buzau;
- City Manager of the Year – Marian Panait, Public Administrator, Sinaia City Hall;
- Partner of the Year – Sector 4 City Hall;
- Smart Environment – Octavian Berceanu – Award for continuous activity submitted for environmental protection;
- Smart Citizen for the project: eSector6, Sector 6 City Hall;
- Smart Living for the project: Urban Regeneration – Improving the urban environment in the Tomis Nord-Henri Coandă area, in the Inel II area and in the Dolphinarium area – Faleza Nord – Constanța City Hall and the World Bank;
- Best Smart Village Project – Sadu Commune City Hall;
- Smart Environment for the project: Snagov Green & Clean, Snagov City Hall;
- Smart Governance for the project: Smart City IS ON (Smart City Iași cONcept) – Iași City Hall;
- Smart Mobility for the project: Integrated ecological public transport system in Suceava Municipality, Suceava City Hall;
- Most active member – Ilfov County Council;
