Romanian Energy Center organizes Romanian-Danish conference for energy transition on May 3
The Romanian Energy Center Association, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Denmark, with the support of the Romanian Ministry of Energy, the Danish Federation of the Energy Industry and the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure, organizes on May 3, 2022 the largest dialogue between representatives of the energy sectors in Romania and Denmark.
The energy sector is undergoing profound changes, European Union having committed to probably its most ambitious project since its inception, reaching carbon neutrality by mid-century. The intermediate target is to reduce the CO2 emissions by 55% until 2030, according to the „Fit for 55” package. The „make-or-break decade” for climate action will greatly test the EU’s leadership in the international arena towards becoming the first carbon neutral continent and coordinating 27 heterogeneous energy markets towards common objectives, as well as the cohesion among the member states.
Moreover, the year 2022 started with an energy prices crisis in full swing, to which the conflict in Ukraine is adding probably the most severe pressure in decades. On 8th of March, the European Commission published its action-plan to 2030 for „more affordable, secure and sustainable energy”, a roadmap in line with International Energy Agency’s „10-point plan to reduce the EU’s reliance on Russian natural gas”.
Consequently, the organisers are proposing a forward looking perspective of the roadmap towards assuring an optimal and resilient energy tranzition, with a focus on off-shore energy, smart and interconnected networks, by matching relevant stakeholders from the Romanian and Danish energy sectors, providing lessons learned and an exchange of best practices and green technology.
In this context, the Romanian Energy Center, the Romanian Embassy in Denmark, the Romanian Ministry of Energy, the Danish Federation of the Energy Industry and the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure are organizing on May 3, 2022, in Copenhagen, a major event dedicated to connecting opportunities and energy projects in Romania with representative companies, technology manufacturers and good practices in Denmark. The main topics covered are energy from offshore and onshore sources, smart grids and interconnections, as well as district heating. Among the companies and organizations already confirmed in Romania are Hidroelectrica, OMV Petrom, Transelectrica, Transgaz, Termoenergetica, Energobit, Zamfirescu Racoti, Vasile and Partners, and the Romanian Electricity Producers Association – HENRO. From Denmark, companies such as European Energy, Energinet, VEKS and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have confirmed their presence.
The delegation’s program includes a conference, two technical visits and bilateral meetings between Romanian and Danish energy companies.
