Altex partners up with the Bucharest Municipality, providing practical training for students
Altex becomes a partner of the Bucharest Municipality within the project “Metropolitan Dual-System Vocational School in Bucharest” and will provide practical training for 100 students from two high schools in Bucharest.
The first group of 10th grade students from ,,Nikola Tesla” High School, has already started the internship program in Altex and Media Galaxy stores, for the trader-seller specialization. Three other groups, of ninth grade students will join the program in September – one from the Economic College “Costin C. Kiritescu” and two more from Tesla Technological High School. Altex provides students in the program with monthly scholarships between 500 and 800 lei, performance awards and work equipment.
”We invest in education because we believe it has the possibility to change destinies. Altex’s involvement in the dual system also has a social responsibility component. The dropout rate in Romania is above the EU average, and that of youth unemployment reached a record last year. The scholarships offered by Altex will encourage students to continue and complete their studies. When graduating high school they will have already learned a trade, thought to them directly by industry experts, and will have no problem in finding a job in commerce. They will also have the opportunity to become permanent employees of the company. It is an important benefit both for them and for the market, for the economy”, said Edvin Abdulachim, Altex Commercial Director.
Students in the first group, who have already started training in Altex and Media Galaxy stores, have a two-day / week-long, six-hour / day practice program. By the end of this school year, they will attend nine weeks of combined practice, during which they will spend five days per week in stores. During this time, students learn about the store processes and operations, sales techniques, customer communication, the use of cash registers and other specific equipment.
„There are many economic agents from the Bucharest-Ilfov area that have joined the Municipality’s initiative, and this confirms the need for qualified personnel, in many fields. We are glad that Altex has become our partner and we are confident that they will provide students with a thorough training to the highest professional standards. I hope that the parents will be just as receptive and that we will have as many students as possible enrolled in the dual education program”, said Liliana Toderiuc Fedorca, Director of the Culture, Education, Tourism Department, City Hall of Bucharest.
The project “Metropolitan Dual-System Vocational School in Bucharest” aims to increase performance in job training, meet the need for skilled workers in the labor market, but also provide jobs for interested young people.
