Andreea Negru, Romgaz: “We have a feasibility study currently underway for a 60 MW photovoltaic park”
“Romgaz is and will be an important company in terms of its activity at national level, especially in the context of the Green Deal and the reduction of CO2 emissions. Romgaz has reevaluated its strategy. It has been adopted by the board of directors and the majority shareholder and includes priorities for reducing carbon emissions by 2030,“ Andreea Negru, Spokesperson Romgaz said during Sustainability Forum 2022 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“We are talking here about modernizing equipment, modern drying stations, new technologies. Technological advancement and digitalization make their mark on everything that means the evolution of processes within the company I represent.
Among the priorities is the implementation and digitization of information systems because we are talking about data collection, large series of data that will be needed to develop forecasts. After all, all these cutting-edge technologies do nothing but reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and we are really investing a lot in renewable energy.
We have a feasibility study currently underway for a 60 MW photovoltaic park and by 2030 we want to have an installed capacity of 160-180 megawatts of solar energy.
We are thus consolidating our strategy through investments that are not only related to power plants, which are really the number one priority. The Iernut plant will be completed this year. We also have gas plants because gas is a low-carbon fuel, but we also have renewable energy, which is a priority for us.
We have started aligning with the new sustainability standards. We do our homework on time, but it is a long process, things are done gradually, not only because of the large volume of data but also because of the volume of investments we have to make. In the case of gas power plants or photovoltaic parks, these are investments started today but which will be completed in a few years.“
