Sarah Maria Joitoiu, eMAG: “Partnerships between companies will lead us to a more sustainable future”
“We need a unitary level of knowledge to achieve the goals of sustainability and emission reduction. Large, multinational companies have experts or entire teams that deal with this subject, but also small and medium-sized companies need knowledge in the field.
SMEs are not yet concerned about this issue of sustainability, and we believe that we are not moving in the right direction in this regard. We need the entire business environment in Romania to know this subject, and everyone to be aware that they need to find solutions to reduce carbon emissions, to remain competitive, to meet the requirements of large customers,” Sarah Maria Joitoiu, Head of Sustainability eMAG said during Sustainability Forum 2022 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Angajament pentru Mediu (commitment to the environment) is a platform that we hope will become a platform of the Romanian business environment in calculating, reducing, or offsetting carbon emissions.
We want to offer this help not only to big companies, but we also want to create a community of know-how sharing, exchange of experiences, development of new ideas regarding the reduction of carbon emissions for all companies.
We consider that this is a necessary step for Romania to become a decarbonized economy. Angajamentpentrumediu.ro was launched on May 19, and over 50 companies have joined this initiative. Partnerships are what will lead us to a more sustainable future.
Through this project we want to offer concrete assistance to those companies that want to reduce their carbon emissions. We have a consultant who helps us in this endeavor, and we all want to reach the same level of knowledge regarding sustainability projects.”
