The Future Economy Gala focused on supporting local entrepreneurship and gender equality
The support of local entrepreneurship and gender equality were the main topics addressed by the officials present at the Future Economy Gala, organized by Ziarul News in partnership with the Association for the Development of Indigenous Entrepreneurship (ADAA). During the event, excellence in business, companies and entrepreneurs who performed in a period marked by profound economic trials were awarded.
Florina Manea, founder of Ziarul News, said: “I support excellence in all economic sectors and I want to bring to the fore models of good practices. I have assumed, since the establishment of the publication, the mission and role of supporting domestic entrepreneurship, gender equality and I wish to contribute, together, to the economic development and the smooth running of the business environment in Romania”.
“I joined this effort with the Association for the Development of Indigenous Entrepreneurship ADAA because I found that the two entities have common concerns: supporting and promoting entrepreneurs and participating alongside decision-makers in identifying viable solutions for a sustainable economic development with impact directly on business communities and society as a whole. 10 years ago, we established ADAA as a pressing need of the entrepreneurial environment to find a platform for communication and promotion of good practice models”, said Andreea Negru, President of ADAA.
Gabriela Firea, Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, present at the Future Economy Gala, said: “We have many successful women in Romania and they must be promoted as much as possible. It is precisely for this reason that we initiated a legislative project for the introduction of quotas gender in public administration. I proposed that 30% of the seats on the boards of directors of state companies and on the electoral lists in local elections should be occupied by women. I am convinced that the project will receive the vote of the majority of parliamentarians”.
Senator Anca Dragu emphasized the importance of women both in the business environment and in politics, noting that, in the Parliament, there are 89 women out of 466 senators and deputies. “For 2024, the European Commission and the European Parliament want to achieve equal representation between women and men at the level of these institutions. In our Parliament there is an initiative that passed the Senate, but is sitting in the drawer at the Chamber of Deputies, and which provides that 33% of politicians should be women”.
Gender equality is achieved in entrepreneurship, said Florin Jianu, President of the National Council of Small and Medium Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR). He added: “There are almost as many, if not a little more, female entrepreneurs than men and they also perform well. We must cultivate local entrepreneurs. I was very proud that, in the first place in the field, the Romanian entrepreneurs put maintaining employees We passed that period well, unemployment did not increase, and this year the companies performed.
In the opinion of Cătălin Canciu, secretary of state in the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, from the government’s perspective, the priorities of Romanian SMEs in the medium term are business resilience, digital transformation of enterprises, innovation directed towards market requirements and trends, business internationalization.
Humanity must understand the fact that we are in the midst of several crises, is the message conveyed by Adrian Vasilescu, strategy consultant at the National Bank of Romania (BNR). He pointed out that inflation, economic stagnation and unemployment are part of our reality.
The Romanian economy has an industry that has not had an engine for 30 years, which has a war on the border, but also a great opportunity – the industrial transformation, emphasized Florin Spataru, the Minister of Economy: “We are talking about a new revolution, another objective – the green economy; we must recycle, use all natural materials in a different form – through a strategy, a policy and a dialogue. This is what we have done: we have created a dialogue and today we can talk about a circular economy”.
