E.ON completes the construction of a 1 MW photovoltaic plant for the Plimob chair factory
E.ON Energie Romania and Plimob, the chair factory in Sighetu Marmației, Maramureș county, are completing this month the construction of a photovoltaic plant with an installed power of 1 MW, following an investment worth almost 775,000 euros. The plant will have 2,400 photovoltaic panels mounted on the roofs of three buildings of the Plimob factory in Sarasău commune, on an area of approximately 15,000 square meters.
“Increasing competitiveness, energy efficiency, stabilizing monthly energy costs and, at the same time, reducing the carbon footprint are benefits that make investing in a photovoltaic plant profitable, but also sustainable. This year, E.ON completed and handed over 68 photovoltaic centers to economic partners, each project completed, like this one with Plimob, representing another step we are taking together towards an economy set in motion by green energy,” said Claudia Griech, general director of E.ON Energie Romania.
“To be able to use natural resources you must first protect them. After the investments made to equip it with ultra-modern machines and production capacities, the investment in this plant will bring Plimob S.A. reducing electricity consumption from the network and will greatly contribute to the protection of the environment, through the consumption of green energy. Through the project carried out in partnership with E.ON, CO2 emissions are reduced by 270 tons per year. The amount of electricity produced by the plants is intended for self-consumption in the production process,” said Vasile Godja, general manager of Plimob.
The photovoltaic plant will provide Plimob with approximately 1,227 MWh of electricity per year, covering 14% of the energy required in the production process.
Starting from 2019 and until now, E.ON has completed more than 150 photovoltaic plants in Romania, worth 28.5 million euros. Through these projects, the total production of photovoltaic energy exceeds 36 GWh per year, and CO2 emissions are reduced by approximately 8,000 tons per year.
