International fashion retailer Primark has opened its first store in Romania at ParkLake shopping centre in Bucharest. With an investment of over 10 million Euro in the new store and hundreds of jobs created in the local economy, the opening marks an important milestone for Primark as the retailer enters its 15th international market.
Primark has also announced a second store in Bucharest in the AFI Cotroceni Shopping Centre, which is expected to open in 2023.
The new Primark ParkLake Bucharest store spans 3,700 sqm across two floors. Arriving just in time for the festive season, customers can look forward to shopping the range of clothing, accessories, homeware and gifting.
Maciej Podwojski, Head of Sales, CEE at Primark said: “We are delighted to open the doors of our first store in Romania this morning. Opening in our fourth market in Central Eastern Europe and our 15th market internationally is a proud day for our business and our colleagues, and we are excited to welcome customers into our beautiful new store. We have ambitious growth plans in CEE and today’s opening is our first step in Romania – with more to follow. A massive thank you to all our colleagues who have been working hard to ensure we are ready to welcome our customers during the busy festive season.”
Central Eastern Europe is an important growth region for Primark. The retailer currently has a store in Slovenia, two stores in Czech Republic and four stores in Poland, with plans to open two more stores in Poland by the end of 2023. Primark’s ambitious plans will also see the retailer opening its 16th market in 2023 in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava, bringing the CEE store footprint to 12 stores across five countries.
