E.ON has completed a 1.1 MW photovoltaic plant for Transparent Design
E.ON Energie Romania and Transparent Design, the largest flat glass processor in Romania, have recently completed the construction of a photovoltaic power plant worth 1.6 million euros, an investment that provides about 25 percent of the energy needed for the factory in Popesti Leordeni, Ilfov County.
The project involved the turnkey delivery, by E.ON, of a photovoltaic system consisting of 2,784 panels that were installed on the roof of the production hall, warehouses and on the ground. With a nominal installed power of 1,286 kWp, the plant will provide, annually, about 1,460 MWh of renewable electricity for Transparent Design and a reduction of CO2 emissions by about 367 tons every year.
“E.ON builds long-term partnerships to support B2B customers on their way to energy independence and sustainability. We are going further with Transparent Design this year by developing the project with another 230 kWp, which will ultimately provide them with 30% of the required energy”, said Claudia Griech, general director of E.ON Energie Romania.
“We are a big energy user due to the technology used to secure the glass, and the increase in the price of energy has a major impact on our production costs. The partnership with E.ON was a key and natural step in managing our business. Green energy is an important factor that will generate competitive advantages over time for our company”, said Alina Nechifor, general director of Transparent Design.
The expansion of the project by another 230 kW, this year, involves the installation of another 624 photovoltaic panels with a power of about 284 kWp, through a new investment of 255,000 euros. The contribution to protecting the environment by reducing CO2 emissions will thus reach approximately 405 tons per year.
E.ON ensured for Transparent Design the entire investment project for energy efficiency, from consulting and customized design to implementation and financing for 10 years, with post-installation services also provided. E.ON will also ensure the maintenance of the entire photovoltaic system, through a full service maintenance contract.
